Gastonia, NC – The NDRA Modz will be making their third ‘Road Show’ tour stop at the Carolina Speedway on July 29th in Gastonia, NC. Carolina Speedway hosts the Modz on a weekly basis so this will be a familiar race track to most competitors and will provide for some great racing. Kyle Strickler has been on a roll lately on the ‘Road Show’ events presented by Roush Yates Performance Parts.
“We tend to run pretty well at Carolina Speedway on a weekly basis. There is always a solid weekly crowd of cars that show up. Winning both of the opening series races is defiantly a great accomplishment. It sets the precedence that we are the stand out team on the premier modified tour around the southeast.” All of this would not be possible for Strickler if it weren’t for his sponsors. “I would like to thank Family Doughnuts Dough, Donaldson Grading, JRS Competition Finishes, and Safari Miles, who just came on board, for all of the help to keep this race team going.”
“This promises to be one of the best races of the year,” said Carolina Speedway’s Mark Gibbons. “The Modifieds have quickly turned into a fan favorite and with all this show is bringing to town it has all the makings of being the best race of the year.”
One of the local favorites who will surely be a tough competitor is Manuel Johnson. Johnson has been running really well lately and the wins continue to come. He has picked up 4 wins on the year with the last 3 being in the month of June. “The success that we’ve have had lately is from all of the long hours that the crew’s been putting in at the shop. Without their help, I would not be in victory lane celebrating with them.” Of Johnson’s 4 wins on the year, 3 have come at Carolina Speedway so watch out for the 98S to be a factor on Friday night.
The ‘Road Show’ at Carolina Speedway will pay $1000 to win. Heat races will be run with a B-main if necessary to set the 24 car-starting field. The main event will have Delaware Double File restarts, which allows the leader to have the front row to himself.
