Kramer Claims Cash in American Modified Series Action at Tazewell Speedway

Tazewell, TN-August 26, 2011- The American Modified Series returned to action on Friday evening after about a month layoff with the tour’s first-ever visit to the super high-banked 1/3 mile red clay oval known as Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN and Joey Kramer of Hanover, IN would leave the Gary Hall-promoted facility with his second series win of the season and a $3,000 payday for his efforts.

Kramer’s win would come in the seat of Claudette Kramer owned MasterSbilt Race Car, powered by a Bullock Race Engine. The winning entry carries sponsorship from Hill’s Historic Painting and Restoration, ATVonics, Larry’s Truck Service, Lucas Oil Products, State Farm Insurance, Bright Beginnings Child Care, Lucas Slick Mist, Ground Works Lawn Care and Landscaping, Rocketman Race Bodies, and Indiana Decal Company.

Stanley Donahoo of White Pine, TN would take runner-up honors, while Ed Shamhart of Olney, IL would score a third place effort. Trent Young of Hopkinsville, KY would finish fourth, with John Demoss of Bloomington, IN earning hard-charger honors with his fifth place finish. The remainder of the top ten would be Ken Schrader, Michael England (who would go to the rear of the field after suffering a flat tire on lap 3), Bryan Barber, Don Adams, and Matthew Hopper. The 40 lap, $3,000 to win race would be slowed by nine caution flags and take 45 minutes and eight seconds to complete.

After a four car tangle in turn one at the start of the race that would eliminate Elliott Despain, race action got underway and Stanley Donahoo would take the race lead, while Don Adams and Joey Kramer mixed it up for second, and Bryan Barber and Ricky Arms would battle for fourth. Five more caution periods would slow the action by the halfway mark, but by this point it was a two-car battle for the lead between Donahoo and Kramer, while Barber and Adams continued to duel for third, with Trent Young and Ken Schrader mixing it up for fifth. Kramer would make his move on lap 32 with a slidejob pass of Donahoo in turn four, but Donahoo would regain the race lead before the pair crossed the start/finish line. A lap 34 caution would set up a sprint to the finish and when the green flag waved again, Kramer would follow Donahoo into turn one extremely high, almost hitting the retaining wall and would dive to the bottom of turn two and make what would be the winning pass for the lead in turn three. Third place running Don Adams would spin in turn four on lap 36 to draw the final caution and bunch the field up again, but Kramer would not be touched in the final circuits and would see the checkered first to claim the $3,000 victory.

In preliminary action, Don Adams was the Williams Precision Engines Top Qualifier among 24 entries representing five states at 12.358 seconds. Adams would win Hypercoil Springs heat one, while Joey Kramer won Wiles Driveshafts heat two. Stanley Donahoo would take VP Racing Fuels heat three and Bryan Barber would score the win in Comp Cams heat four.

The next events for the American Modified Series will be on Friday September 16 at Moler Raceway in Williamsburg, OH and Saturday September 17 at Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY. Both events will pay $1,500 to win.

Default Great Modified Race at the Taz Last Night (except)

This is only my opinion; I think the #10 car held up at least three cars capable of challenging for the win with his out-of-control "driving". He did, again in my opinion, wreck two cars and held another car up being the #4D and the #2011 and the #10Y; again, this is the way I saw it, the #10 car was basically a wreck waiting to happen. Those guys raced him clean--but they had to suffer the consequences.
