FAYETTEVILLE, NC – Ron Parker put an exclamation point on the 2011 National Dirt Racing Association (NDRA) season as the Belwood, NC veteran swept the Dirt Wars presented by Goodyear Racing Tires main events over the weekend. Parker led all 80 laps of competition at Carolina Speedway on Friday night and then at Lancaster Speedway on Saturday night to collect $6,000.
Parker’s season has been one for the ages. Not only did he sweep the Dirt Wars events but was also the Heintz Performance Road Show champion as well as the City Chevrolet League Championship Series champion. Parker has well over 20 NDRA feature wins in 2011.
Parker and Steve Banal shared the front row for the 40 lap main event at Carolina Speedway. Parker got the early hole shot and led the entire distance. Banal kept Parker within striking distance but the Pennsylvania transplant had to settle for a second place finish and the $2,000 runner-up prize. Dennis Rambo Franklin took third with Matt Stover and Anthony Sanders rounding out the top five.
Sixth through tenth went to Matt Long, Jay Sessoms, Greg Barker, Kenny Rominger and Matt Logan.
On Saturday night at Lancaster Speedway Parker picked up right where he left off the night before. Once again he shared the front row with Banal and once again he shot to the point as the green flag waved. Banal again stayed close enough to capitalize if Parker made a mistake but the driver of the Parker Sales/Herbert Murray Concrete/Crossroads Hardware/Hendren Racing Engines/Rocket Chassis was to strong. Long charged through the field from his tenth starting position to take third and the $1,000 purse money. Timbo Mangum was fourth with Brandy Baker fifth. Sixth through tenth went to Chris Cheek, Sanders, Barker, Pat Lindsey and Rominger.
