    Default mustang trans fluid

    i did a search and didnt find anything but i was wondering what everyone is using for fluid in their mustang transmissions. not sure if i should use atf or 80-90. any info would be great.

    What transmission?
    I use Type F ATF in all my transmissions for 4 cylinders but stick with gear oil in the V-8 to help keep the shock loads down.

    If you are using a T5 like I am, ONLY use ATF in it. Thats what the factory put in them as well.

    Rule I use is aluminum case it gets ATF cast iron case gets rear oil.

    thats what i was thinking also, but the car we bought had 80-90 gear lube in it and i didnt think that was right. thanks for all of the replies.

    i gotta alum case mustang trans that uses 80-90
