Fan Shroud

Going to install a shroud, my fan is about 3" away from the radiator as of now(center of fan blade), Question is should I remove the 2" fan spacer and move it back towards the engine for a bigger shroud or just build it where the fan is???

2 inch spacer is ok,any longer and you will have trouble keeping the waterpump bolts tight.
