$60,000 Doubleheader This Weekend for ULTIMATE Super Late Models

Carnesville, Georgia – With more than $60,000 worth of cash and prizes on the line this Friday and Saturday night this doubleheader race weekend will mark the richest single weekend in the history of the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series. On Friday night the second-season series will visit County Line Raceway in Elm City, North Carolina for the first time ever where the ULTIMATE Super Late Model teams will vie for a $4000 winner’s purse. Then on Saturday night the ULTIMATE Series returns to Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, Virginia for a $10,000 to win weekend finale’. “This is such a huge weekend, not only for racers but for our race fans too. We have a lot of things going on for the fans. We will have some giveaways and autograph sessions and a few other surprises to make the experience a great one.” said ULTIMATE Series Owner Stan Lester.

Drivers attending both events will also be eligible for a “driver appreciation” bonus presented by FK Rod Ends. Two teams which compete at both events will receive a $250 bonus prior to the start of the feature. “Maria Melillo, Brian McAllister and all the fine folks at FK Rod Ends have been such a great supporter of both of our series and really of Dirt Late Model Racing as a whole. We are very proud to have them be a part of this historic weekend event and as is their custom; they are giving back to the teams with this driver appreciation bonus. At Virginia Motor Speedway just before the feature we will put all the drivers’ names into a hat that attend both nights. Then we will randomly draw 2 winners for the extra cash.” commented ULTIMATE Series Director Kelley Carlton.

On Friday Night, May 18th the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series will make its first ever stop at the at the 3/8ths mile clay oval located in Elm City, North Carolina. Drivers will battle it out for 40 laps with a $4,000 payday awaiting the winner. For some time the fans at County Line Raceway dubbed “The County Line Crazies” have been asking about the return of a SLM event. Public Relations Director Steve Summerlin listened and went to work looking for a series to bring the high horsepower action back to life. He didn’t look long as the Ultimate Super Late Model Series rules package, which would allow the CLR locals to be competitive with their Limted power plants, made it a perfect fit to end the 8 year absence. Summerlin states, “We wanted to bring in a series that would allow our talent laden field of Late Model drivers to compete in, The ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series has just that. It has been a pleasure working with Stan Lester and Kelley Carlton and his team; we are very excited to host this event. We hope this will be the start of a long term relationship with County Line Raceway. I am always looking for a variety of racing for our fans, we know the stars of ULTIMATE and the regional and local guys will not disappoint. Track promoters James Upchurch and Brenda Holcombe loved the idea and the rest is history.”

On Saturday night, May 19th the ULTIMATE Series moves a few hours north to return to Bill Sawyer’s beautiful ½ mile Virginia Motor Speedway located in Jamaica, Virginia for a $10,000 to win event. The 50-lap Mid-Atlantic Spring Championship presented by FK Rod Ends will serve as the weekend finale. “We are really looking forward to having the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series back, as they put on one of the best races of the year in really adverse conditions. This year we hope the cooler temperatures will make for an even better event,” commented VMS Track General Manager Clarke Sawyer.

ULTIMATE teams have been buzzing about their return to Virginia Motor Speedway since last year’s event. Defending race winner Steve Shaver will be looking to repeat when May 19th rolls around and looking to stop him will be defending ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series Champion Chris Ferguson, current ULTIMATE point leader Casey Roberts, along with Casey Barrow, Daniel Baggerly, Zack Mitchell and the rest of the ULTIMATE Series faithful. Also expect regional stand-outs like Ricky Elliott, Jamie Lathroum, Jason Covert, Chris Madden, Dustin Mitchell and many others. National touring drivers Rick Eckert and Dale McDowell have also indicated they will be attending the event. The driver’s from the South will have their hands full with a tough contingent of Mid-Atlantic hot-shoes. This is sure to turn into an epic North versus South event.

Virginia Motor Speedway is pulling out all the stops once again to draw every Late Model in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast by offering tow money to any driver not making the 26 car field with any driver not making the A Main receiving $200. Virginia Motor Speedway and ULTIMATE series officials expect the pits to be overflowing with Super Late Models as teams flock to Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway for this special event. VMS fans will also see the track’s Truckin’ Thunder Sportsman and Budweiser Modified divisions in Virginia Army National Guard Dirt Series action.

Sounds really interesting and very tempting too. I haven't tried to acquire such header but I'm sure this is a good way to invest money with. Anyway, best of luck.
