Default Carburetor Adjustments for the Duel in the Desert....

    Hello,

I'm thinking of going to this years 2012 Duel in the Desert...I run Alcohol and i was wondering if i would need to rejet my Carburetor because i will be comming from Sea Level to 2000 above sea level? Is there any racers that went to Vegas from the South or any place that is at sea level and if so did you have to make any changes? I will be traveling from Georgia... Thanks

I run 160's down here I know some people go as lean as 138's...that's a little to much on the lean side for me if something happens doesn't take much to burn a hole in a piston..Im trying to figure out what gear to bring to vegas.. 514's?

    Flexi,

You run 160's in Vegas? I ran 160's when I lived in Colorado...I run 180's here in Georgia and Alabama...Im putting a 5.29 in my car for starters. The builder of my Chassis the "Big Chief Chassis" won the Duel in the Desert in 2007. His name is Eddie "The Outlaw" Martin....Eddie told me to run a 5:43 but I dont think my motor can take Turning that many RPM's on the 1/2 mile track. I just talked to him last night... So if you have a good motor go with the 5:43 or the 5:29 to be on the safe side...

I can tell you that a big name racer will be there using a 2 bbl carb. The night of a thousand stars winner was on a 2bbl and second place came from 23 with the back butterflys unhooked. Going to be really slick in Vegas. Something to think about
