Ford Ranger EFI Distributor and Coil

The guys at my track mentioned running a Ford Ranger EFI Distributor and Coil rather than a stock mustang distributor. Anybody know what year or years would be the best to use? The guys I think said maybe late 80's / early 90's. It'd be for a 2.3 engine.

that is correct,it is referred to as a TFI..if you cant find one i sell the distributor,coil with bracket,and both pigtails for $75 shipped,or $140 with a brand new bronze gear installed and 3/16" roll pin.
