Default Nov 15-17: USMTS Texas Winter Nationals! Combined $9000 to win/$775-950 to start!!!

Practice THIS Wednesday and RACE THIS THURSDAY and the WEATHER IS GOOD!

Like always, I can't see a down-side here for the Modifieds at the 6th annual USMTS Texas Winter Nationals being held at Royal Purple Raceway on Novemeber 15th, 16th and 17th in Baytown, Texas!

This is all 'UNOFFICIAL' on my part by the way. If it ain't exact, it's mighty close!

$50,000 total purse/combined $9000 to win at a great place! Racy, paved pits and as nice a dirt track facility as you can find. Houston is still warm in November too.

Early entry deadline is Thursday, November 8th. Phone it in with credit/debit card to 515-832-7944 by then or mail it in the old fashioned way with a postmark of Nov 8th or sooner.

Worst case scenario. Say you enter late, race all three nights and don't possess any USMTS license. It'll cost you $375 in combined entry fees at the track and a $35 pit pass each night. (Well, you can knock $5 off that by buying a 3-day pass for $100 on Thursday -- no fooling with lines at the gate on Fri & Sat that way.) Guaranteed $240 of it back in tow money as long as you race all 3 nights. $60 Thur, $80 Fri and $100 on Sat. A-main start money is a combined minimum of $775. $200 Thur, $275 Fri and $300 Sat. And you're still going after the same combined $9000 to win as the licensed guys with a solid paydown, even for the non-licensed.

    Let's sweeten the pot though...

Buy a license. What? Last USMTS event of the year and I'm going to buy a $150 license that's only good for 2012? See what you think...

    -- First, cost, -$150

-- 2nd, if you plan on doing any USMTS racing in 2013 (and who wouldn't want to?), you get $100 off a 2013 license for buying one for this show. +$100 so now -$50

-- Enter early and save $10 per show off the entry fee. That'll get your total entry fee investment down to $325 for the weekend too. +$30 so -$20

-- Tow money goes up! Combined $300 for the weekend. $80 Thur, $100 Fri & $120 Sat. That means no matter what, a guy that competes all three nights is only loosing a total of $25 off his combined early entry fee total at the worst with this license. +$60 & now +$40 overall.

That's a total of +$190 extra so far for just trying this show all three nights and buying a $150 license too. You're up $40 on your license investment and you haven't done anything but attempted to make the three A-mains.

Now... Good at making As? Good at finishing As?

-- Start money goes up to a combined $950 for licensed drivers! $300 to start on Thur & Fri and $350 on Sat. Up to +$175

-- Finishing positions such as 2nd on Thursday pay as much as $300 difference. (Same win amounts, $2000, $3000 & $4000 for everybody though!) Most spots pay between $100-$200 better to license drivers. Run decent in the A-mains over 3 nights an we'll say up to +$600

So if you're good at making & finishing A's, that $150 license investment is sure to put you $300 or $400 to the good or more!!!

Let's bring out the "A" Mods ONE MORE TIME!!! For more, see USMTS.com

Can you make it over here by Saturday? You can start a week of Modified racing at Boothill Speedway near Shreveport -- about 5 hours north of Baytown. They have a $3300 to win Mod race THIS SATURDAY, Nov 10th. 7th annual Dustin Duncan Memorial. Kelly Shryock is a past winner of the race.

Now this one has a big drop off in the paydown as it pays regular purse for 2nd on back ($80 to start on a $30 pit pass) ***BUT*** 33 cars start the A, 33 laps is the distance and there is NO entry fee for this race. Just the $30 pit pass. In case you're wondering, Dustin drove #33.

With a practice on Wed the 15th in Baytown, you can run on a dirt track 5 times in 8 nights for a total of $12,300 to win. Not bad for mid-November! You'll have Sunday-Monday-Tuesday off for some golf or casino-ing. Shreveport has several casinos as does Lake Charles, Louisiana which is just a slight detour on the way to Baytown. You can hit Houston for some shopping and other big city stuff if you like or just chill on the Gulf in Galveston. Weather is still plenty warm here!

Should be a fun week either way!!!
