Yessiree, we'll be there for sure. It's about a 41/2 hour drive one way for us to Du Quoin and it's worth every minute of driving and every cent for gas.
We've attended the last 3 POWERi midget races in the Southern Illinois Center. Last year's pre-Christmas race, and the 2 night show they had during the Du Quoin State Fair and they were some of the best racing we've seen in years. I'm not a big indoor racing fan but the show the POWERi boys put on in SIC is second to none!
The bonus with going to the pre-Chistmas (this year it's December 15th) race is the City of Du Quoin has the State Fairgrounds decorated for Christmas. This is a spectacular light show that incorporates the lakes, grandstand and all the buildings and trees on the Fairgrounds into the show. It's something like 2 1/2 miles that you drive through the Fairgrounds and they broadcast Christmas music that corresponds with the show as you drive.
I would submit to all that if you like good racing and want to get into the Christmas spirit the place to be on December 15th is the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds!!
