    Default 2.5 rod question

    i was wondering would a 5.2 rod 2.5 be better than a 2.5 5.7 rod motor
    quarter mile dirt track flat tappet cam

    i run 1/4 mile with the 5.2 rods,,comes off the corner great!!never tried the 5.7 rods

    Due to slightly less angularity with the 5.7" rod, the cylinder wall parasitic/friction losses with the piston/ring package would be slightly less. Therefore a slight touch more TQ/HP. However, using the longer 5.7" rod, there would be LESS rpm range/band spread between peak TQ & peak HP. Therefore, if you require a fairly wide rpm band, say 3500-4000 rpm, to get around the track, with 'traffic', the 5.2" rod could/would present a slight advantage. -Dave-
