    Default Pulley Setup

I am looking to add a little insurance to my classic V-belt system. I have a one to one double groove V-belt set up now on a SBC, w/ short water pump, Afco style PS pump, 19" 4 blade fan and an old 'Shogun alternator'. Pump gas - no big hp. Engine runs cool if the belts are tight.

If possible I would like to try adding a HTD, Gilmer or serpentine belt along with the V-belts for insurance when one belt slips or throws.

Any economical suggestions? Adjustable spacing for different blocks might be nice with affordable belt options.

    Thanks

Toothed belts are great for preventing slippage on high load systems like roots type blowers but a properly setup Vbelt will be all you will ever need on a water pump/fan set up/power steering system.

Aligned grooves, belt width, belt height, length, and tension. Get these relationships correct and you won't throw belts or need to complicate the system. Hint....Most people have these close enough to work but when proper, they last a very long time trouble free. Example, my set up is 13 years old. Never have had any problems or even changes the belt for that matter running a UMP A-Mod.

I just put the Jones IMCA kit on my motor. It is pure sweetness. I feel it was money well spent.
