TFI end play
How much end play should the shaft have in a TFI distributor? Are there shims available? Thanks

I checked a couple that I have here and they were in the 0.050-0.070 inch range and they have no problems. these are stock tfi units. one came out of my 88 turbocoupe I had and it worked fine.

WOW! That's what I found in a couple of mine and I though they were junk. Looks like the timing would jump all over with that much end play. Thanks for the info.

Thanks car62. I still don't understand why Ford would do that. Only thing I can think of is the way the TFI is driven may pull the gear down and not up like other type of engines. But it doesn't matter because the TFI WORKS. Thanks again
