Picking a race to watch.
What weighs in when picking what races you go to? I realize distance enters into it, depending where your located, other things enter into it as I pass up a 1 hour trip for a 2 hour trip this last week end. Here is a list of what I look for.
Distance
Favorite drivers
Well prepared track
Passing
Expectations from previous events
Can you see the race, no obstructions
Ease of getting in and out
What is on your list? What out weighs other things in your list?

An interesting post, I've copied below how I judge things. I've allocated ten total points over all of the categories to show each items importance to me. As you can see I don't lend much weight to expectations from a previous event (dirt tracks change ever week) and I don't care about ease of getting in and out (no matter how bad it can only take a few minutes). I would rank the obstructions thing higher but I do occasionally visit a track without the best viewing just to see my favorite drivers. Distance is another huge factor (otherwise I would just follow the WoO series or something).
Distance - 3
Favorite drivers - 3
Well prepared track - 1
Passing - 1
Expectations from previous events - 0
Can you see the race, no obstructions - 2
Ease of getting in and out - 0

Who I'm going with......
Who will be there that I know.......
Program itself( does it move along, or notoriously drag)
Will modifieds be on the undercard......
Will potential new clients be there......
Just to name a few
Where is the move over flag when you need it?????

This is how I decide what races to attend.
1. Where do my kids wanna go
2. Where are my friends racing
3. What tracks are my favorite
4. Quality of racing program
5. Tracks that don't take unnecessary intermissions
6. Bang for my buck

Where ever there is dirt and clear sky's!

Passing, well prepared track, favorite drivers, and weather play into it for me.
-
Weather 1, what drivers are there 2, thats about it. I try to go to a new to me track once or twice a year. Also I usually work on Friday so that limits how far i can travel. But saturday i can drive 5 or 6 hours to see a good race.
Go Buckeyes!!!

I go where I feel there will be less screwing around...
Opinions may vary...

We try to attend at least one big race each year that I haven't been to before. I was going to Eldora year after year and while it was great, I wanted to see others. Some people get in the same rut all the time and never fins new options and I was one of them. I look for tracks that will provide good racing, that's my main thing. Distance isn't that big of a deal. Last year I went to I-80 for the Silver Dollar Nationals, which was 750 miles one way for me. Been to Batesville, West Plains, Charlotte, Wheatland, and many others. This year I have decided to go to Florence for the North/South 100. Looking forward to it.

I use to chase late models and sprint car races all over the country. Now I spend all my racing money in my home State of Pennsylvania supporting the local tracks and racers watching them put on some of the best racing there is to be had.
Heck for the cost of one "big show" I can see three nights of racing at the local tracks which more times than not produce a lot better racing.

1. Going to a new track, try to get to 10 new tracks a year
2. Quality of show. Late model touring series, USMTS
3. A good quality weekly show, good car counts, 5 classes
4. Try not to attend any one track more than 3 times a year.
5. Effiecently run shows, no unesessary delays
6. Good seating and grandstands
7. Orderly run concessions, cafeteria style works best
8. Start at advertised time
