    Default AMRA Sport Mod Idea's

Looking at getting back into racing after finding out a local track (4/10 mi) is going to start a AMRA Sport Mod class http://www.amramodified.com/wp-conte...ules-FINAL.pdf. My mind is grinding along looking for ideas or recommendations.

    2500# open motor, 4link.
    - 390 max ci, 4412, stock valve spring diameter, 1.25 spacer, and 175 lb compression, flat tappet cam
    - with this engine I imagine 410-420 hp which gets roughly 6lbs per HP
    - 100# weight brake if run 3 link or factory 4 link. Gets 5.85lbs per HP

    602 crate with 4412 , and 1.25 spacer
    - 150 lb weight brake with (2500 -150 for crate - 100 for 3 link) gets me to 2250lbs
    - A non cheated 602 with 2 bbl say 335hp (Guess with 2bbl) 6.7lbs Per HP
    - A cheated 602 about 375 hp get you back to 6lbs per HP ( Don't want to start a debate about
cheated crate motors, just guarantee I would be running against them.)

My thinking gets me to open motor on 3 link.
would I see any benefits to gaining 100lbs for a 4 link?
Afraid with the crate would be harder to keep up momentum on a big track.

No clue what tire to run. Must run same rear tires all night.
    TIRES
    16. (A) Only tires which are recognized as approved by AMRA are allowed. Hoosier Racing Tires 2 ply E-Mod 26.5 & 27.5 x 8.0-15 in Soft, M100, M200, Medium, and Hard compounds. UMP tires 26.5 & 27.5x8-15 in the A40, D40 & H40 compounds are the only legal sizes and compounds allowed.
    (B) Grooving or siping of tires is allowed.
    (C) UMP A40 or H40 and/or the Hoosier Medium 100, Medium 200, Medium or Hard required on the Right Rear Corner only. NO Soft or D40 on Right Rear. NO Tolerance

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

Personally, I would go open engine with 3-link. That 602 crate is at a huge disadvantage with those rules. 3-link is VERY capable of winning races, especially in a limited modified, plus less moving parts and easier to tune. I can't help you on the tires though, I have no idea what half them even are (I'm from IMCA country, so we don't run anything like that)

Yeah, going to have to find another track that runs this class. This is a new class in my area/state.
