    Smoky Mountain Speedway prepares for 2016 Season Opener!

    Officials with Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee have released details concerning the 2016 season opening event scheduled for Friday, March 11th and Saturday, March 12th at the historic East Tennessee facility.

    The season opening mega event will boast the largest payday of the season at Smoky Mountain with the 75-lap feature for super late models paying a whopping $15,000 to win. The event will be sanctioned by the Ray Cook promoted Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals series.

    Some outstanding drivers have already made their intentions known that they will be at Smoky Mountain Speedway for this event!! Just to name a few… Jimmy Owens (Newport, TN), Scott Bloomquist (Mooresburg, TN), Dale McDowell (Chickamauga, GA), Skip Arp (Georgetown, TN), Billy Ogle, Jr. (Knoxville, TN), Randy Weaver (Crossville, TN), Tommy Kerr (Maryville, TN), Donald McIntosh (Dawsonville, GA), Bobby Giffin (Maryville, TN), Shanon Buckingham (Morristown, TN) Robby Moses (Maryville, TN), Brian Shirley (Chatham, IL), Stacy Boles (Claxton, TN), Dylan Ames (Harvest, AL), Tyler Millwood (Kingston, GA), and many others will announce their plans after Florida/Georgia Speedweeks.

    Details for the weekend are summarized below:

    Friday, March 11th

    Pit gates will open at 2pm.
    Grandstands and Tier Parking will open at 4pm.
    Driver’s Meeting scheduled for 6:30pm.

    Grandstand Admission
    Adults - $15 / Kids (ages 6-11) - $5 / Kids (5 & under) FREE

    Tier Parking Admission
    Adults - $20 / Kids (ages 6-11) - $10 / Kids (5 & under) FREE

    Pit Passes
    Adults - $30 Kids (ages 11 & under) - $15

    TWO-DAY PASSES WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR ADULTS IN THE GRANDSTANDS & TIER PARKING.

    2-day grandstand $40 - must be purchased on Friday 3/11
    2-day tier parking $50 - must be purchased on Friday 3/11

    Super Late Models – hot laps, 2-laps for time trial qualifying that will set the line-ups for Saturday's heat races

    Sportsman Late Models – hot laps, time trial qualifying, heat races, & 25-lap feature paying $2,000 to win / $125 to start
    *** car count minimums will apply ***

    Electronic Transponder Scoring will be used for Sportsman.

    There will be a $50 entry fee, which will include your transponder rental.

    Saturday, March 12th

    The pit area will be cleared and secured at 1pm.

    Pit gates will re-open at 2pm.
    Grandstands and Tier Parking will open at 4pm.
    Driver’s Meeting scheduled for 6pm.

    Adults - $30 / Kids (ages 6-11) $5 / Kids (5 & under) FREE

    Tier Parking Admission
    Adults - $35 / Kids (ages 6-11)- $10 / Kids (5 & under) FREE

    Pit Passes
    Adults - $40 Kids (ages 11 & under) - $15

    Super Late Models
    HOT LAPS
    HEAT RACES (10 LAPS)
    B-MAIN(S) - (12 LAPS)
    $15,000 TO WIN 75 LAP FEATURE

    Also, just added to the program. If 40 or more super late models sign in for action, there will be a non-qualifier race for cars that have not transferred in to the feature event. The non-qualifier race will be 15-laps and will have an interesting twist. The 1st and 2nd place finishers in the non-qualifier event will have a choice to make. The winner can choose to take $1,000 for the win (and call it a night) OR start 23rd in the main event to go for the big money! The 2nd place finisher will also have a choice to take $750 for the finish or start 24th in the main event! All drivers attempting to start the non-qualifiers event will receive $100.

    Street Stocks – hot laps, time trial qualifying, heat races, & 25-lap feature paying $2,000 to win / $125 to start.

    Electronic Transponder Scoring will be used for Street Stocks.

    There will be a $40 entry fee, which will include your transponder rental.
