Cherokee Speedway old track?

Was looking to maybe go watch a race there. I googled it and saw two tracks. Whats up with the old grown up track behind the current track?

That was a track Rock Gault started building but never finished. I think Duvall held some of his driving schools on it.

I looked at that google maps picture too. I haven't been to Cherokee since they shortened the track. How's the racing now? I used to love going there. Seen a great HAT race there, where Bloomquist was hung out on the high side through 1 and 2, right up next to the edge, and passed Rick Eckert right at the end that way.
Great track!!! I loved that treacherous turn 1-2 area. One misstep and you're over the edge.
