Dixie and Rome are my home tracks. I just wanted to throw this out there out of curiosity. What are everyone's opinions of the two tracks? I assume the general response will be Rome is fast and worth the trip but Dixie can be a bit boring. Thoughts, anyone?
I love both tracks and would say that without a doubt they are two of the top 3 tracks in Ga. For a long-time the were the best two but Senoia has really upped the game in recent years. I'd rank it Senoia, Rome, and Dixie. I've seen great racing at Dixie but there have been times were the racing was a little bit boring as I've seen the track lock down before. But when it has two grooves, I think it's one of the best in the South East. Wasn't in the area during the time period but I heard Dixie was much better when the younger Swims was still alive and running most of the operations.
I grew up at Dixie & have seen good racing there years ago. When was this great racing that you saw? Just wondering. Most of us agree that it would be different if Mike were still around.
Didn't realize that its been half a decade since this race. My how time flies. Saw another one either the same year or in 2010 were Tony Knowles and Michael Page putting on a great race with Tony coming out the winner. Not the biggest Page fan but I'll give him his due there. Saw him start 18th and come all the way to the front to win one time. I believe it was also 2012 when Jimmy Owens won the Dixie shootout that was a great race. Chris Madden was winning and Jimmy ran him down. They raced side-by-side for many laps before Chris had his right rear wheel come off with like 3 or 4 laps to go. Jimmy went on to win. I joked that night saying Jimmy literally made Chris drive the wheels off his car. I would say the great racing was from 2010-2012 that I saw. Didn't go much in 2013 or 2014. The few I went to last year and this year have pretty much been won by someone on the front row. Did see a good one few weeks ago won by Luther Jenkins. Johnny Chastain started towards the middle of the field and raced his way to the front. Caught Jenkins right on the last lap but ran out of time.
Here's the race between Tony Knowles and Michael Page.
With Fayetteville being forced to cancel do you think that means any more drivers could be coming down to GA for the double header at Dixie and Rome? Weather will be picture perfect this weekend in the peach state.
