Jeff Gordon To Run Rolex 24 At Daytona In January
Gordo is going to try and duplicate what Kyle Larson did a couple years ago, and that is winning the Rolex 24 in a Daytona Prototype.
Good luck to Gordo!! It would be nice to see another former dirt open wheel guy win a sporty car race!

It sure would be nice. Too bad the great classy 7 time champion Jimmy Johnson couldn't run it and win. A spokesman for Seiko Watches winning a Rolex race. I would think that the Seiko company would be more in touch with the common working man anyway than the glitzy glammy gawdy Rolex.

There is NO greater crew chief than Knaus. Inman couldn't carry his jockstrap. 5 in a row....nobody has ever done that.

I wouldn't dispute anything that you say except the statement about Dale Inman not being able to carry Knaus' jock. Granted, Dale and The King never won 5 in a row but the competition was tougher back in Dale's heyday. I'd put Dale on a par with Knaus. Dale won 8 championships as crew chief with 2 different drivers.

How true your statement is! It is so marvelous how many races Knaus has won with his uncanny ability to outthink the competition in the later stages of many races. The combination of Johnson and Knaus ignites memories of the legendary Silver Fox David Pearson who had been written off in many a race only to come back somehow and take the prize at the end of the day. The last Championship run at the end of the year had the announcers picking who was going win the title between Carl Edwards, That Pee Wee guy, and the 22 car only to see the cream migrate to the top!

The comparison's of David Pearson and Jimmie Johnson are valid. Both were cool tacticians behind the wheel of a stock car who were easy on their car until it was crunch time. Both were unflappable in a stock car and they both are class acts and good people on and off the racetrack.
We hear constantly about how this driver or that driver has all this incredible car control. Bull$hit. Drivers like Pearson and Jimmie have the same kind of car control abilities but they don't often show it because they don't need to. They are too good to put themselves in position that car control is the only way to win or even save the car from going out of control! They are simply that much better than the competition.

It behooves me that there are so many people in denial of just how lethal the Johnson, Hendrick, Knaus team really is. A class act for sure! I dare say that if it weren't for favoritism and GIMMICKRY they may have about 9 championships by now ! No doubt that Jeff Gordon had an incredible eye for talent when he brought Johnson into the sport.
