Default DTWC Payout Does it need to be 100k to 20k for 2nd?

Does there really need to be an 80k different between 1st and 2nd? Is it really going to draw more cars? Is the racing really going to be any better? Spread that payout back thru the field for running a hard 100 laps of racing! 100k to win and 2k to start is a joke!

All they did with the purse is double the win money. Nothing else changed, and the DTWC has always been Dolly Parton dollars.

Because lots of cars and fans will show up, and Carl Short will make lots of money. Racing is a business, not a charity.

it is a business. So by doubling the amount to win we should have 140 (79 last year) cars and 5000 more customers at the front gate by your theory then, correct?

it was still a huge event when paying $50k.. I do think more should be spread out but 100k to win to close out season is a big win..

100k to win looks good to a casual fan, its like "oh yea 100k to win, I bet theyll get ton cars for that." But in reality, 50k to win and 30k for 2nd and a better pay from 2nd on back would bring the cars. Just as Josh said, it brings in more people thinking there will be more cars. Which was the case last year.

To me, I think it's pathetic for a race with this much prestige, but yet pays so poorly.

Before anyone gets bent out of shape, I already knew the dream basically had the same payout. That has all been changed.

Same problem everywhere just not big shows at the local tracks it's the same deal winner gets 1500 for late model 2nd gets 700 and you can guess how bad from there on back 700 will barely buy 4 tires. These promoter s need to wake up and take care of the guys that run 8th 9th etc without them you have no show. Up untill 3 years ago they were still racing for same purse as when I quit in 1985 in a 7500$ car not a 100 grand car like now you do the math who's making  it sure ain't racers I want to add this was in a car I built myself engine and all.

There are not very many drivers that are going to get a big piece of the pie, so putting the money back into the rest of the field instead of first will get you no more cars.

But if the guys back in the field out coming you have no field I think more cars would show if there was a chance of at least covering some of the expense Big $$$$$ are always gonna win no matter what.

I think, it's more about not loosing any more cars, from going belly up from fuel and tire bills.

Plus it’s very late in the season. There are lots of guys that have already shut it down for the year.

I’m not saying that at all, I was just saying that’s why the purse is the way it is, and has been for years.

I don't like it either. Take that $50,000 and put it somewhere else. How about $30,000 for second and $20,000 for third and add $20,000 to the rest of the field.

You lease somewhere and run your own race and pay what you want if it bothers you that much.

NWPA apparently you have never owned a race car and have no idea of the expense of running one.Instead of being a smart ass try to help figure out an answer to the problem because if it ain't figured out soon late model racing as we know it is done.

He could have taken that $50k he put on winning and paid every position $2k more. $52k to win and $4k to start looks ALOT better to the racers than this payoff!

These are all great ideas. Kinda wish DLM racing had a national weakly podcast where we could get Carl's/Tony's/or the drivers insight on issues like these.
