It appears that the MARS DIRTcar Series has folded.

yes the west is done(unless something changes), but they are trying to put together the east side, there will be more on this in the next couple of weeks
-
They got what they deserved.
I figured it would take 2-3 years for this to happen. To do it in year one is quite the feat.
-
Yea they screwed my cousin out of a $3000 to win race this year after coming from the rear and wining the race...said he was 15lbs lite...said they don't allow burn off..
-
Weight is weight anyone who depends on fuel for weight is a fool. So he screwed himself

Agreed if your light at scales your light point blank period...
-
Not a surprise the way they conduct business!
-
Getting a full field of cars seems to be the biggest problem. Not sure how the attendance was this year.
3K races will not draw many cars. Just locals with a few travelers.
-
Can someone assure me that this is for real
I am what I am
-
Weren't they involved in the Lasalle/Josh Richards fiasco?
-
As for car counts, if you look at how their fields are/were set up, unless you have a guaranteed provisional (as in follow the series), you're basically racing for one of 16 spots. A reason cited by some I've talked to as to why they didn't attend many, or any of their races. And if you had the pleasure of waiting in line for payout, it just adds to why some aren't eager to race their series.
And while this is criticism, it should be taken as constructive... should the series attempt to continue in one way or another.

Was it MARS, that bailed out on the Slocum benefit race at 34 raceway, last year, for a shady weather forecast?

They bailed on Davenport the night before too.
And let’s not forget they bailed on West Liberty and Farley in August.

Yes it was, and Davenport the night before. I heard that there was more than the "weather" excuse, but I don't know the details.

for Davenport, a chance of rain and drivers not wanting to run the 1/2 mile track was the reason Mars gave for the cancellation.
-
It's no wonder that they folded, if they aren't as good as their word. That kind of reputation doesn't go away in business.

Yep, and the track is the one taking all the risk when they decide to race with a questionable forecast. It should be 100% the track's decision to run or not. The series should never go rogue and cancel their sanctioning while the track is deciding to run. What the series did was unacceptable.

I think what may have happened in this case... only my speculation of course. Mars West only had a handfull of drivers following the west series and most of those drivers also followed the MLRA series. When the forecast looked to be unfacvorable and they had the opportunity to go where there was a better chance of getting the show in and getting points and money elsewhere the drivers decided to go to the other race. Mars was left with a decision to make and run without their series regulars so they pulled the sanction from the event. I am possibly wrong, but this is the info I was given.
