New local class
Our local tracks have gone away from the IMCA sanctioned class, and changed to rules similar to the ones of the i80 speedway class. We are able to run a 604 crate at 2100lbs, or a imca spec at 2300lbs, along with the ump and other open rules up to 2350lbs.
I’m guessing the IMCA spec motor will still be dominant, but curious if you think the 604 crate could compete? Both run 8” spoiler and 14” D-55 tire.

I ran that class, and after I blew up my spec motor, I used a 604... only close if you are on a small dry track. There were a few 604s that could compete, but highly unlikely they were legal. They are talking about allowing alcohol for the 604s for next year, that might close the gap.

They don’t let us run the 10” blade instead weigh 2100 and 8”. U can also run 525 and 6” setback instead of 8 and weigh 2300

Do the rule makers even understand how hard it is or what it costs to make a 2100# late model, I do cause I've done it (well close, 2150#)? Very few are going to get much of a weight break unless they try really hard and spend some money or have a 2# driver.

i agree with billet , does the open engine get the 8in setback ? if so , the rest can forget it , now the 525 might be competitive at 6in and 2300 against the other combos , but not the opens , not even if there set back is only 6in as well.....
