A-Plus Motorsports Records Pair of Top-10 Runs at North Alabama

Lewisburg, Tennessee (05/15/18) – A-Plus Motorsports invaded North Alabama Speedway on Saturday night with its drivers – Scott Cook and Jason Maurer. By the time that the night’s final checkered flag had dropped, the pilots had collectively recorded a pair of Top-10 finishes.

“The beginning of the year wasn’t quite what we expected, but as a team we didn’t let the struggles get us down,” team owner, Phillip Baxter said. “Saturday night was one of those where the cards looked to be stacked against us early, but we never gave up and came away with a pair of good runs.

“I especially want to thank Mike and Jamey Boland at Trak-Star Race Cars for working hand-in-hand with us over the past several weeks to help us get our program rolling.”

On Saturday night both Scott Cook and Jason Maurer returned to action at North Alabama Speedway (Tuscumbia, Alabama).

Earning the 2nd-starting position for the Durrence Layne Crate Late Model feature in his A-Plus Collision Center #8a Trak-Star Racecar via preliminary events, Cook was battling for the top spot late in the race, when his car bottomed out on the low line. The disruption ultimately resulted in him fading to a fifth-place finish. He trailed Seth McCormack, Braden Mitchell, Matthew Brocato, and Mike Henn across the finish line.

In the Street Stock ranks for the Mid-South Big 10 Street Stock Series sanctioned program, Maurer earned the 11th-starting position for the $1,000-to-win A-Main via preliminary events in his Amsoil #8A Trak-Star Race Car. Spinning to avoid a wreck on the opening lap, Maurer bent his right-rear rim, which forced him to briefly pull into the pits for repairs. Maurer would rejoin the tail of the field before advancing 16 positions to finish seventh.

The team’s plans for the upcoming weekend are still up in the air. They are currently looking at tentatively competing in a Weekly Racing Series event at Winchester Raceway Park (Winchester, Tennessee).
