Default Largest car count ever seen in person

I thought this would be interesting but here it is. My largest car count I have ever seen was the 2003 UMP Nationals when 175 Modifieds and 79 Super lates showed up at Eldora. Also my first World 100 in 2005 when they had 216 Super lates. And of course the 2002 Baltes classic in September they had 86 super lates, 58 modifieds and 56 Street Stocks.

The ice bowl in 06 or 07 had over 400 cars hit the track throughout the weekend.

Let me tell ya On Sunday of Labor Day at Eldora they ran the Johnny Appleseed and you would see everyone come in to run. I know we would get there at 3p.m. Gates opened at 3:30 and you would see 70 to 86 Super Lates and 45 to 60 mods and 45 to 60 stocks every year for $12. But back in 2016 it felt like a normal Appleseed as there were 40 supers 63 mods and 31 stocks.

Probably one of the Steel City Stampedes. Always so many cars they have to pit some of them in the parking lot and infield.

A bucket list race would be the big race at Boone called the IMCA Super Nationals with 950 plus cars there.

The annual Spoiler around Halloween at Tri-State Speedway in Pocola,Oklahoma used to draw 400 race cars across all the classes. I even heard 600 once? One year they raced heats until 6 a.m.! Heard it called the "24 hrs of the Spooker." Lol.

I think the first Dream 100 had 175 cars or more. Whatever it was, that was the highest LM count for me.

2002 DTWC had 150 late models, and a ton of mods also.

That first year they had 176-178 lates. I didn’t make it, went the second year. They had mid 70’s to 80 cars lol. I’d go again, good racing, awesome facility.

    Default Been at

Some of them World 100’s, with 200+ cars. The first and I think second DTWC at KC/Atomic, 120-130 or so lates. Freedom 100 at WVMS had I think 112.

Back in 2006 I went to my first 4 crown rained out Friday. Did not get to start hotlaps til 7p.m. Saturday had 65 mods, 54 Sprints, 38 midgets and 35 silver crown cars. After 2 more rain delays a long red for a modified in the catch fence and a bunch of flips, it was finally done at 7:10a.m. and sun was up over the woods on the backstretch. That was at Eldora.

When Dad and I drove up for the original date for the Eldora Million in 2000, there was around 240 outside on Thursday night before Friday times trials. The snow was coming and weekend canceled the next morning.

220 plus late models at the World , might have been the Dream, in the early 2000. Don't think I ever saw more even when there 3 or 4 support classes.

Boone IMCA Supernats by far exceeds all others. 700+. You heavy track, gotta farm it types should go just to watch how to work a track in 10 minutes with 20 tractors and 5 water trucks. Done to the theme song from Green Acres.
