Default Shocks to be discussed on ULTIMATE Facebook Live tomorrow night

FASTRAK Founder Stan Lester will return to the FASTRAK/ULTIMATE Facebook Live Forum tomorrow night, November 13th at 7pm Eastern. The topic will be the new AFCO Crate Spec Shock Series which was announced last Friday afternoon.

“I know teams have a lot of questions,” said Lester, “I want to be available to answer those questions on Facebook Live tomorrow night.”

Drivers and teams will have the opportunity to ask questions about the new shock option and any other questions they may have. Lester will go live at 7pm Eastern and will continue as questions roll in.

AFCO introduced a new Crate Spec Shock Series, which will be available beginning in January. The shocks feature a tamper-proof enclosure system, and retail for $186.99 each. Several months of testing have went into the shocks before the announcement was made.

“I know I have been telling all of our teams and tracks for two years we are going to do something about shocks,” said Lester, “they have expected it before now, but our priority was making sure we gave them the correct product. Our policy, from day one, has been that I will be involved in the testing process to see it for myself,” continued Lester, “That allows me to look at our teams face to face and say this is the right choice. We have always done testing this way and always will as long as I am involved. The last thing we wanted to do was take a half-worked effort as a solution. I believe 100% this is the correct solution to a very complicated problem.”

The Facebook Live Forum will be shared to all FASTRAK and ULTIMATE pages, so be sure to tune in!

The absurd process of checking deck height before the race is what started the proliferation of Massive hike and extreme RF low speed rebound and extreme LR low
Speed compression with super light springs or air shocks. For some stupid reason deck height has crept up from 36” clean up to 39” now. And with the current rules of checking before the race most cars would come across the scales at 42-44 after the race. If you manadate a lower deck period I propose 36 or 37 and check it on the scales after the race you make a lot of the current shock situation go away on its own without legislating it. Also make the max RF ground clearance 10” because they have gone stupid light on the RF spring to have it extra high to hold the LR artificially low for tech. If you check decks after the race air shocks are irrelevant and unusable so
Are super light or stacked left rears. This would significantly slow the need for massive power especially when the track starts to dry out.

Huck I agree and I dont know why they wont check deck after race, but I love they are trying something, its kind of eliminating what you are talking about just in a different way. Very reasonable cost, we will see if the "tamper proof" holds true. I think this will help reign in the horse power, and get back to where the best guy at adjusting through weight % and good ol wedge and stagger has sucess...

The whole press release said cars didn't lose speed with these shocks. It also said car owners were spending $10k for shocks and tossing them a month later. Unnamed owner was sold a bill of goods for sure.

I was assuming that this new shock mandate was only for Fastrak... not for the Ultimate series too unless I've assumed incorrectly. Maybe someone in the know can confirm.

Think I read where it will be an option in Ultimate with a 50# weight break, and possible slightly taller rear spoiler.
