Blue/Gray book calls for a 36 and a 33” with a bolt making it a 34 1/4”can you just use a 34” ?

You want the shorter axle with the bolt. I always ground the head of the bolt to a slight point so that's all that touched in the center. I would run a short bolt all the way in on the right axle and set my lash with the one in the left.
