Yes it was pretty cold that night. Hope weather is alright an I really hope the track has their stuff straighten out. The last 3 races was rough esp the last one. This is their last chance with my group of 20. If it's bad like the last few have been then we will NOT be back.
-
Hopefully it warms up by then, but they do have a back-up date this year, so that's good.
Opinions are my own. Twitter.com/ShinySideUp18

2023 race count: Winston Speedway (MI)-3, Spoon River Speedway (IL)-1, Lincoln Speedway (IL)-1, Farmer City Raceway (IL)-1, Fairbury American Legion Speedway (IL)-1, Thunderbird Raceway (MI)-7, Kokomo Speedway (IN)-1, Butler Motor Speedway (MI)-1, Mt.Pleasant Speedway (MI)-1, I-96 Speedway (MI)-1, Merritt Speedway (MI)-3

I would bank on that backup date.
Snow on the ground, single digit temps and below zero wind chills today.
They're gonna need a solid stretch of days above freezing for the ground to thaw.
Does Hoosier make a snow tire???

We went to this event last year and it was plenty brisk. Luckily we had seats in one of the suites. Great racing both nights, looking forward to this show again later this month. The Friday night A-main was decided in the last 100' of the race. One of the better late model shows we saw all of last season.
The weather can turn around in a big hurry this time of year. It's somewhat premature to write this event off 3 1/2 weeks in advance.

I think the biggest issue is
People have
Lost faith in Tony

what is the make up date?

If you have rented a suite, make sure someone in your group brings a small fan to move air across the window. Without it, you can not keep the window defrosted.
-
I'm seeing high 40's low 30's forcasted for 2 weeks out. Track should be fine as long as rain stays out of the picture. That would be my major concern as their is a lot of precipitation forcasted between now and then. I'll plan on it being cold as I haven't experienced warm weather at this event for quite some time. The event name should give one some kind of idea as to what the weather should be. Dress warm for this one.

Weather in Illinois can be 20 one day and 70 the next so, maybe we can get lucky for a change...
-
$30 seems like a lot for a $5k show imo
-
Do you want tracks to stay open or not? The price is going to have to go up because, there is just not the fan base there once was. Maybe now some will feel what some drivers and owners are feeling that the cost of racing keeps going up.
-
Maybe the fan base is smaller because the prices went up? The problem with your theory is that there will always be another rich kid to fill the gap when drivers and owners get out of the sport but when fans quit going cuz of rising ticket prices they will not be replaced.

Fan base has been in decline way before prices have started going up. I will say it's a double edge sword for tracks to get to a happy medium. No I'm not a believer in more rich kids filling the seats. More and more are going to get out of the sport because of cost. Its already happening.
