Was EPJ using a carbon fiber seat when it broke out in Arizona or NM last month?

I agree. We need to get rid of all the exotic parts on these race cars. Not just titanium and carbon fiber but magnesium and aluminum too. We don't need aluminum bodies, let's outlaw them and go back to steel bodies. Don't need aluminum blocks or head or intakes. Or wheels. And we don't need magnesium Bell housings, transmissions, or quick changes either. Make them all out of cast iron and steel. And while we're at it let's get rid of all this exotic electronics. Get rid of electronic ignition and make a points distributor madatory. And let's get back to a 6 volt battery.

Now we got are selves a real race car.

How stupid would it be to build a car with all these exotic materials and then roll across the scales and have to add 100 lbs to make weight. With the balance of today's cars bolting on that much weight is not a advantage.

you can put the weight where you want it, its an advantage if you know how to use it, remember its a 100 thousand dollars on the line for the dream and 50 for the world

What about carbon carbon brake rotors? I know Bloomquist use to run those. Yes, they offer a performance advantage. Yes, they are expensive. However, they also add a safety element because they perform much better than conventional rotors and still function at much higher temperatures.

And let's get back to a 6 volt battery.
Perhaps this would please some better.

And after the event they could be recycled into French Frys for the concession stands.

There is that! There is also the fact that weight in some places is more important. For example there is what's known as "unsprung weight" in the suspension system. Also since most stock car racing is stuck with 1960s technology in the engine department, and we're still running pushrod engines, weight of valvetrain components is a huge deal. That's just 2 examples, but sometimes the weight of certain components is more significant than others.
