What does Moran = Oil Company mean?

Maybe they should go back to Rockets.

I had always heard back in the day that Donnie had oil company backing (money). Was that true? And is that still true today for his son?

Donnie May have had some oil company sponsorship in his day- but the family didn’t own an oil company. Devin doesn’t have it - the team is on a tight budget.
You may be thinking of the Eddies Sunoco (or Eddies 66) sponsee Donnie carried. Not sure- but I believe it was a local company/station that was one of Donnies sponsors.

Thanks for the clarification. . I have always liked Donnie and have chatted with him a few times in the pits over the years. He was real nice to us

Donnie's dad was in the drilling business (R&J Drilling) and had oil wells, he may still have them. Probably what you heard but that is not the case with Devan being funded by that. Eddies Sunoco was and still is a sponsor of Devan.

You are right chump of Clay
Forgot about the drilling business Ron had- but didn’t know he owned wells. Thanks man- that’s been several years ago I I have slept a little since then. I guess Donnies car (at that time) was the first time I had ever seen pearl white paint. It changed colors with the sun/light- thought it to be really cool. Think it was at Bulls Gap for an NDRA show that Robert Smalley was having.

I'd say that's not true. Until the last month or so, he was fast. He always ran really well in Pope's Longhorn too.

I would say it's definitely true. He was for sure better in the rocket than the longhorn. Not even up for debate.

My bad : it’s clump of Clay (not chump of Clay) my sincere apologies to you! Better get myself some new reading glasses.

He started the season exceeding all expectations and running like never before. Not even up for debate.
Never slow in the Pope car. Again, not up for debate. I didn't realize he was a world beater in the xr1.
Sample size is still small and at least half of it is pretty impressive.

Exceeding expectations? He won at Eastbay, where he has been good in everything.
I think you're forgetting how good he was on the WoO tour with the rocket him and Twarog had. 4th in points in 2017 and 2018. Won the PDC, won at Terra Haute, Jim Dunn Memorial and he was just getting his feet wet then.

4th on the junior circuit? He still has way more top 10s than not. He had been way faster than only 1 win would indicate. He's lost a few late in the going and had some bad breaks. Only very recently has he fallen off some.
Even as recently be as the last race at Wheatland, he was as fast as anybody over the latter portions of the race.

Junior Circuit the year Sheppard, Madden, and Marlar finished ahead of him?
