Jimmy Owens lost 3 engines this weekend?
Thurs- Engine failure after the heat, switched to the backup car for the A-Main
Friday - Engine failure in the A-Main
Saturday - Engine failure in the A-Main
Even for a team with the financial backing of Ramirez Motorsports this weekend was extremely costly.

Eldora always costs several teams a lot of money. Nothing new here.
-
Ricky lost their engine also. My understanding was Vic Hill took the engine out of his car and they put it in Ricky's.

Dennis Erb runs one also but an oil line blew off. He was helping Dennis and Heather repair it

That's why Clanton didn't race. They only have 2 for next week at I80 and didn't want to break another one like Friday night and be down to 1.

Except for one engine builder lost 6-7 engines at one race! When there was only what, 5 or 6 cars running that builder's stuff?

I recall a weekend at Knoxville a couple years back that killed a bunch of Pro Powers.
WFO every single lap of a weekend isn’t what engines were designed for.

Eldora has always been a motor killer. Owens losing 3, OUCH.
-
Seems to me more teams are utilizing Clements engines than ever.

When a guy blows several engines in a row, something is wrong with an engine support system.

Trevor Gundaker posted that there were 17 blown engines this week-end at Eldora. That seems like alot with only 48 cars.

Jimmy supposedly dropped a valve Thursday, burnt a valve Friday, the one last night was the only one that is actaully FUBAR.
I seen Dohm said his was lapped out. If so, he was playing with fire thinking it was going to make it all weekend.

I think dohm said the potential backup was lapped out.

Is it fair to blame the heavy track conditions and only having 48 cars on hand? I was thinking, in hindsight, with no fans in the stands, it wouldn’t have hurt anything to have had a dry slick track all weekend.

The lapped out engine was back at their shop, they decided to not have someone bring it to Eldora for Saturday.

I went back and read it again, you guys are right.

Vic told me he didn’t like doing the pro motors. Said they ran em too hard in a car that didn’t allow air to get to the radiator. The local guys he doesn’t mind, but the national touring guys can make you look bad, simply because they put em through too much.
Cant fault Vic though.
Remember when Durham had a bunch of motors hand grenade at golden isles a few years ago? I remember every car that had a Durham ford had glowing headed tubes and then they left it laying on the track shortly after.
