Best pullbar
Whats everyone’s opinion on the best spring pullbar right now on a grt carb USRA/USMTS car
-
afco 3 way with progressive spring and change the yellow bushing to purple, set it at 1 inch. Call Bob Harris he set me up with this 6 years ago and it was a game changer on my Grt Imca car, way better than the tp bars my cars came with.
-
Shawn Kennedy and his Sneaky Horse pullbar are the way to go. The bar was awesome and the service is second to none.
-
The spring with an internal bump stop deal seems to be the preferred. As for rate thats going to be dependent on your application, traction and power, like SCD said the AFCO is nice. Neuline has new one out that looks interesting too.
I see some on a Spring only bar, with a shock running inline with it, see an Elite or something like that. It would dampen the deceleration a bit, but the valving on the shock would be important.

I looked up that Sneaky Horse Pull bar, looks good !

The best pullbar is a lift bar.

Those nlms cars ran pretty well with a pullbar!
Forward bite wasnt much of a problem with those 550hp engines!

Yeah, they aren't hard to hook. Still vulnerable to the upsetting a pullbar gives you on decel.

Joe boy had a couple of good ideas to fix that!
A combination of both worked good for us!

Not true at all.. We drive circles around lift arms steady and can keep our pinion angle a lot closer to a lift arm these days than you'd think. I will also add, we can also do stuff with a pull bar that you just can't with a lift arm. That's about all I will say though.

I have no question you can do some things to help geometry with a pullbar. Geometry on every component of a dirt car can still be improved.
That said, if you don't wind up with something where the gas pedal has less influence on antisquat, than a lift bar, you haven't made a better mousetrap from the standpoint of corner speed.
