Going back to the hauler in a heat and returning to action is a new one for me too.

I thought the out of your car you're done rule was for on the track.

I was thinking the same thing but, it would interesting to see the rule on this.
I missed the race so, I have to go on what others are saying and going to his pit area getting out of the car then back in and winning the heat who does that lol.

The getting out of the car deal is for on the track, and isn't being policed anymore, anywhere. Most places I been, going back to the hauler means done for the race. It may not be that way for Lucas though.

Couple things I've found in the rules. Didn't Erb cause the caution which went to the red flag stop? That was for fuel and helmet change only. Seems as though they shouldn't have been able to work on changing the gear in Erb's car during the red flag.
Any driver, or any member of any team who works on the car during a caution, while the car is still on
the track will be judged to have made a pit stop, and will be sent to the rear. Only track or series officials
may work on cars on the track, and if the officials are unable to fix a problem, they may send the car to
the pits. This rule also applies in the event of an accident.
{Do not get out of your car unless you are
prepared to resume the race at the rear of the field.}
Teams are not permitted to work on any race car during a red flag, on-track or in the hot pit
area. Any team that works on a car during red flag conditions will be black flagged. That driver
will not be allowed back on the track and no longer scored for the remainder of the race

The officials made Erb's team stop work during the fueling. They were almost done with the repairs by then.

That's what I thought it was for on the track but, I'm wondering is there a rule for if you go back to your pit stall and come back Not the hot pits but, your pit stall.

Yes I know your talking about the heat race. I would assume the same rule applies either way. The explanation of the rule is in my post that is from the Lucas Oil rule book. The rule was enforced. I had a separate question about Erb and Shiney answered it.
