Maybe a dumb question but why can't they run 100 laps there? They just did it at Eldora. Is the track that much bigger?
Measuring Knoxville on Google Maps each straightaway and turn is approx. 100 ft. longer than Eldora. So 4 x 100 ft. x 100 laps = 40,000 more ft or approx. 7.5 miles. Thus 100 laps at Knoxville is approx. 7.5 more miles than 100 laps at Eldora.
The Grandstands are a ghost town tonight???? I am assuming they will get better as the week goes on?
Same comments come every year at knoxville, the front Grandstands seat something like 12-14,000 and are 40+ rows up, the crowd will get bigger but its really hard to judge the crowd there
I understand. I was at this year's Knoxville Nationals...and I understand you can't compare the sprint car vs The DLM crowds. But on over head shots on Flo make it look like there is not even a thousand people tonight.?
Aero is sure reeking havoc tonight. As bad as I've ever seen.
Absolutely! Anyone that doubts or questions the effect of aero and dirty air should watch that race, the impact has never been more evident. I love Knoxville and respect their commitment. Attended the 2004 and 2005 events, the crowds were alarmingly small in those early days but management said they were ready to stick it out long term and they have. But late model rules are providing a challenge to many tracks. Time to do something.
