Sparse- but a bigger crowd than Monday night. No way they pay the purse with that crowd. I don’t have any clue to the number of subscribers they have- but I still say Marcus Smith is the $$ behind it.
It will be interesting to see what XR does in 2023. NASCAR had already announced dirt for the Bristol spring race. Are they looking to become another National series like Lucas/WOO down the road????
Why does XR suck for fans??
Kokomo had an excellent field of drivers- only 2 classes and was completed by 11:00 (eastern) each night.
Monday was 20k -Tuesday was 4ok.
What are you referring to that XR sucks for fans??????
A reply would greatly be appreciated-to clarify your point.
Just look at the attendance? Obviously fans are not going to many of their races. Announcers are hard to get used too. WOO and Lucas run better shows. The Charlotte XR races were god awful.
It does make you wonder how they can continue paying huge purses. I think they should have stuck with their original Las Vegas and Texas races. Those events seemed to fit a niche in terms of fans wanting to attend and extra races for the drivers. The problem was they hit a home run with the very first Bristol dirt races with over 1000 teams participating and decent attendance, but that was because everyone thought it was going to be a ONE AND DONE deal. They have not had much success with their events since then....unless there are WAY more folks buying the streaming than we think?
Flyboy:
I agree on your perspective of the announcers- but I can take them over Rick with the WOO. They don’t try to be a comedian like he does.
You must remember their shows are usually on a weeknight- fans have to work so you are mostly going to get locals.
As to your comment that Lucas/WOO run better shows: What is that based on?
This past weekend at Knoxville was a cluster for Lucas. (I am hearing that the late models will not return there).
XR Series Monday/Tuesday we’re very very efficient and timely shows.
I am not a big fan of the XR deal because it has upset the travel teams committing to a series full time. But that is selfish of me because I favor Lucas.
Competition is the spice of life!
As I have stated many times before: I think Marcus Smith is the $$ behind it and I am looking forward to seeing their 2023 plans.
I just don’t relate to “ XR sucks for the fans” ???????
One would think that whoever put together the XR shows and them mostly be during the week, that the "live" crowds wouldn't be all that great given that many people can't attend shows during the middle of the week. It shouldn't be a shocker that the crowds aren't all that great. But racing wise (I watched both nights on XR+), the racing was good and and the broadcast was pretty good as well. I'm curious also how 2023 looks for XR.
I guess I’m biased because Charlotte was such a disaster this year. I went to several Lucas events prior to that and they ran like clockwork. Started on time and were organized (even with over 70 supers at East Bay). I didn’t see that in Charlotte with XL. I don’t know the announcers for XL and found that to lower my excitement of the event. Stands were very empty as well.
