Madden put on a clinic even if the actual race wasn't a real thriller. Felt for Strickler after a good consistent run and then losing the lead with a flat with the end in sight.
Never been to Cherokee, and likely never will, but thought all the guff about it not being racey didn't hold up yesterday.
Last race I saw at Cherokee was a Lucas race a few years back that Bloomer won. Was 1 of the best races I've seen there. I just remember Bloomer and Overton put on a show from midpack, Richards, Hudson and I think Madden or Ferguson had a good back n forth battle for the lead until Bloomer caught em. But ive also seen nights there when the 4 bangers and streets put on the best show.
If everyone were honest they would probably tell you the undercard almost always puts on better actual racing than the late models….it’s rare to be the other way around.
Madden beat Fergie in the spring at Cherokee. Fergie had a flat with one or two to go. Madden just waited and got the win. I never watched him until this year. I like how he races.

Madden is awful lucky in that way of backing into wins ? ?
Thunder and Lightning was the best class at Cherokee back in the day! Miss those races with old announcer Walter Faulkner calling the race!
Yes Billy bishop in the night stalker, wally Fowler, and the #5 car Sonnie's car wash was the sponcer. I can't think of his name right now. That was on the big track when racing was good. Bruce was the flagman at that time also
