So how many laps would it take to drain a battery? No more 100 or 50 lappers??? Then there would be battery drain that could also slow a car well before a race is over.
Count me out.
Crashes would be far more dangerous in reality, so it sounds like something that won't ever happen.
Toxic oxides while racing and also battery leaks would be dangerous for the drivers, maybe even the fans.
And the land, track and pits could be contaminated. Sounds like an EPA point of interest for sure.
Racecars with batteries would have to be reengineered and would not handle nearly as well.
Power drains would be so extreme that overheating cables would be a huge problem.
And then there would be the main problem of you would be in the restroom or motorhome and not even know a race was going on, on the track. lol

If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention!

I listened to Nascar's Steve O'Donnell on Corey LaJoie's podcast "Stacking Pennies" and this subject came up. He said they have to explore all avenues that the future of motorsports may go, including electric. But he said the racing needs to be entertaining and fun, and right now EV-Racing isn't at that point. If EV-racing becomes a thing, it will come from the manufacturers.
If you care to listen fast forward 28 minutes in and the subject only goes for a couple minutes.

Clayton, you nailed it with this post. Two gold stars for you.

I am no EV hater , but I would not like this , especially as a fan , the sound and smell is part of the allurement ......
-
how come i never get two gold stars? I'd settle with just one!

I'd give you a 5 star rating ! !
-
Probably not. Currently racing appeals to 3 senses. Sight, sound and smell. An electric car eliminates 2 of those.
-
Never going to happen, so why discuss it.
-
dirtcrazy4u i gotta ask: are you ever happy? why bother replying to anything on here? seems like you are depressed permanently, maybe try the hippie lettuce?

I love the sounds and smells. If the leader gets a half track lead, at least we can still hear and smell.
