We have a recipe my aunt gave me years ago…I make it for guests but not really a fan of tartar sauce.
Mayo,pickle chips,fresh dill fresh lemon juice and a bay leaf stirred in for flavor……..make it, just don’t eat it .I look at tarter sauce for seafood like I like at bbq sauce for bbq or steak sauce for grilled steaks.
If it’s cooked right, no sauces needed.
Caveat to that is I do like a small cup of Lexington nc style red dipping sauce to dip my huspuppies in 😎
I dip mine in my oyster dipping sauce........(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)tail sauce, horseradish,lemon juice, and Tabasco!
