It does seem that the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) should be a little more involved during this time. I wonder why they aren't?

Exactly...and where are the lawyers and the ACLU?????? They're not allowed to do any of those things! They can't just decide to take our freedoms away at any time for no good reason without making it law.

The ACLU is aligned with the left. They don’t really care about freedoms. Just a political vehicle.

That's because he's an idiot and didn't try to open in a legal manner and go through all the proper channels to open plus he was a big mouth all over the internet and I'm sure some state official saw what was said and done.

If people can have large protests in cities like they are all over the country, why can't people have protests at racetracks?
The governor of Illinois sent the state police to a Hobby Lobby about an hour from where I live to shut them down. They had reopened deaming themselves essential because they sell fabric that could be used to make masks.

This post by chathamracefan is short and to the exact and accurate point as to why the ACLU doesn't go to bat for people and entities like Kevin & Tammy Gundaker and Tri-City Speedway.

Wouldn't it be fun and revealing to have a high level representative of the ACLU take questions from a group of race fans. It won't happen because those people are ideological cowards but it's a cinch it would be lively and security would be necessary! LOL!

I'm with the person who said Kevin & Tammy likely know something we don't know. It's obvious that they aren't ignorant or cognizant of the jeopardy they would put their race track venue in by attempting to defy the authoritarian governor and the resources at his disposal. I'd venture a guess that the Gundaker family could live happily ever after and do nothing more than count the return on their investment portfolio. Gundaker Realty was no small realty broker firm prior to it's sale.

Is there a smidgen of doubt that was politically motivated? Obviously not!

ACLU is still trying to figure how to prove Jesse didn't lie about being mugged and called racial slurs.

ACLU is a left wing cess pool. They might get involved if we were illegal aliens or minority’s wanting something we don’t deserve

You'd think a pretty far right winger would know that about the ACLU... Just sayin'....

It really doesn’t, the ACLU has defended the Confederate flag, the tea party, the KKK, Rush Limbaugh, Westboro Baptist Church, The National Socialist party and many other right wing nut job groups.

Illinois governor said he's concerned about the corona-19 deaths in Illinois and he is doing the shut down to save lives. Last year 43,000 abortions were done in Illinois, but there are still 6 abortion clinics still open 2 in Chicago. l wonder if all the Democrats businessmen in Illinois are pleased with their officials now? You haven't seen anything yet, just keep voting for your Socialist Democrat Party and watch your rights get flush down the drain.

I'm not going to subscribe to the Washington Compost just to read that article.

Tell us just how they supported Rush and the Tea party....
Oh I see, they stepped in to help stop Rush'es medical records from being seized back in 2004. Do you know how much the ACLU has changed in the last 16 years????

What is a right wing nut job group??? Please enlighten...

I’m from central Illinois. There’s about 20k people in my town and I would bet there’s not 300 people that voted for the fatazz here but he still got elected. It’s all Chicago that put him in. Next time you hear a Democrat talk about doing away with the electoral college just look at Illinois. It would be Chicago ,California and New York running the country

I think we should have electoral colleges at the state level for governor elections as well. In PA the Dems pander to the inner cities of Philly and Pittsburgh and of course those people vote for their free stuff. Every other county in the state votes red but it doesn't matter.

Yeah they should make it where if you partake in any assistance programs such as public housing or snap for an extended length of time you are ineligible to vote If you can’t make decisions to run your own life why do you get to decide how I run mine.

I wonder what the other promoters who set up the "coalition" think?

I imagine the Gundakers attempting to do this is going to undermine their efforts.
