Dale McDowell Enjoys Three-Win Weekend; USA 100 Next
Welcome, North Carolina (05/30/17) – Dale McDowell enjoyed a perfect weekend behind the wheel of the Shane McDowell Racing #17m Will Kinzer Foundation/ Sweet-Bloomquist Chassis Super Late Model. He entered three events and won all three to push his 2017-win tally to five.
“It was just an amazing weekend for Shane McDowell Racing,†Dale McDowell said with his signature smile. “I was able to win all three events that I entered, and then Ahnna [Parkhurst] won the Crate Late Model feature on Sunday night at Rome. It feels great to be able to win for my family, my sponsors, and all of my awesome fans.â€
On Saturday night Dale McDowell opened his weekend at Dixie Speedway (Woodstock, Georgia) with a Schaeffer Oil Spring Nationals event. In a field of 41 Super Late Models, McDowell posted the fastest time overall in qualifying, locking him into the redraw for the feature. Receiving the 2nd-starting position, Dale jumped into the lead at the drop of the green flag and never let go, capturing his third victory on the season and a $5,000 payday. Brandon Overton, Donald McIntosh, Michael Page, and Jason Croft completed the Top 5 finishers in the 50-lapper.
Sunday evening found the pilot of the Shane McDowell Racing #17m back in action at Rome Speedway (Rome, Georgia) for another Schaeffer Oil Spring Nationals sanctioned contest. Timing in second fastest in qualifying, McDowell locked into the 2nd-starting position for the $6,000-to-win A-Main. Taking over the top spot by lap 30, Dale McDowell led the final 20 circuits en route to his second straight win. Brandon Overton, Donald McIntosh, Ricky Weiss, and Derek Ellis trialed McDowell to the checkers.
On the same night at Rome Speedway, fellow Shane McDowell Racing driver, Ahnna Parkhurst wheeled her way to her first Crate Late Model win and second victory overall on the season.
Wrapping up the action-packed weekend, McDowell stopped at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tennessee) on Monday for the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series sanctioned event. Drawing 23 Super Late Models for the Freedom Isn’t Free 50, Dale started the night with a heat race win, locking him into the 3rd-starting spot for the $10,000-to-win A-Main.
Pacing his way to the front, McDowell overtook the top spot on lap 27 and went on to lead the final 23 capturing his third win of the weekend and fifth overall on the season. Brandon Overton, Ross Bailes, Shanon Buckingham, and Vic Hill completed the Top 5 finishers.
