    Jason Hughes Wins Again in USMTS Competition

    Westville, Oklahoma (05/30/17) –Jason Hughes continued his winning ways over the weekend. The Oklahoma racer powered his Henryetta Ford #12 Murphrey Oil Co./ Hughes Chassis/ Mullins Racing Engine Modified to the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) triumph on Sunday night at Upper Iowa Speedway.

    On Friday night Jason Hughes kicked off the busy Memorial Day weekend at Mississippi Thunder Speedway (Fountain City, Wisconsin) for the second round of the RHRSwag.com Northern Region presented by Summit Racing Equipment. With 36 United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) entries registered for action, Jason charged through the field six positions in his heat race, posting a 2nd-place finish behind Zack VanderBeek. His performance locked him into the 6th-starting spot for the feature. Slipping two spots in the 40-lapper, Hughes dropped back to an 8th-place finish.

    Saturday night brought Jason to Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minnesota) for the 15th annual A&A Electric Southern Minnesota Spring Challenge. Improving three positions in his heat race, Jason scored a 3rd-place finish, positioning him 10th on the starting gird for the feature. Working his way into a podium spot, Hughes charged through the field eight positions to place 2nd behind Cade Dillard. Zack VanderBeek, Jake Timm, and R.C. Whitwell completed the Top-5 finishers.

    Closing out the three-day weekend with the USMTS, Jason was one of 24 cars on hand at Upper Iowa Speedway (Decorah, Iowa) on Sunday for the 10th annual Nordic Nationals presented by Weis GMC Buick. Gaining six positions in his heat race, Hughes posted a runner-up finish behind Tyler Wolff, locking him on the front row for the feature.

    Overtaking race leader, Tyler Wolff on the second circuit, Jason Hughes led the remaining 39 laps of the finale en route to his fifth victory of the season. Zack VanderBeek, Cade Dillard, Ryan Gustin, and Stormy Scott completed the Top 5. Hughes pocketed a $3,000 payday for his dominate performance in the 40-lap A-Main.

    “It was another solid weekend for our team, and it was great to get back into Victory Lane,” said Hughes. “The schedule really starts to get busy as we get into the summer so it’s good to know that our team is performing so well. A huge thanks goes out to all of our supporters, who help make my program possible.”

    The upcoming weekend will tentatively take Hughes to Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana) on Saturday, June 3 to compete in the annual Doug Murphrey Memorial.
