Billy Moyer Jr. Wins in Whynot WoO Thriller
Batesville, Arkansas (04/23/18) –Billy Moyer Jr. edged Shane Clanton in a thrilling finish on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park to claim the $10,000 top prize with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Craftsman Late Model Series Crop Production Services #21jr Longhorn Race Car/ Pro Power Racing Engines Super Late Model.
“Whynot hasn’t always been my best track, so it means a ton to win a World of Outlaws event there,†Moyer Jr. stated. “Friday night we got off to a slow start but rebounded for a Top-10 finish, so I knew that we had a good car. Saturday night we hit the ground running and never looked back.
“I just want to thank my team, my sponsors, and my fans. We’ve had a rough start to the year with a lot of random bad luck and other issues, but on Saturday night we got it altogether. Hopefully we have the monkey off our backs now.â€
Billy Moyer Jr. returned to action with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series on Friday night at Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi) with the opening round of the two-day Queen City Shootout. Losing two spots in his 10-lap heat race, Moyer Jr. logged a 10th-place finish transferring him into the B-Main.
Sending the Top-3 into the opening night feature, Billy captured a consolation victory, positioning him 18th on starting grid for the main event. Breaking into the Top-10, Moyer Jr. improved eight spots in the 50-lapper, reeling in a 10th-place outing.
The following night in a field of 39 cars, Billy recorded the second-fastest time in his qualifying group before picking up a heat race victory over his dad. Earning the second-starting position for the A-Main, Moyer Jr. carried a comfortable lead for much of the race until late where he held off a hard-charging Shane Clanton to pick up his first win of the season and a $10,000 payday.
Clanton, Chris Madden, Mike Marlar, and Brandon Sheppard completed the Top-5 finishers in the 50-lap affair.

Moyer Jr. was slated to travel to Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tennessee) for a pair of WoO Craftsman Late Model Series events. Unfortunately, he will not be able to attend.
“My daughter is a little under the weather in the hospital, and I don’t want to be nine hours away from her this weekend, so we are going to have to skip the Outlaws events at Smoky Mountain Speedway,†Moyer Jr. said. “I hate not going, but my family is obviously my top priority. I’ll look forward to getting back to action with the tour in the next week or so.â€
