Ray Cook Runner-Up at Blue Ridge; Two Big WOOLMS Dates Ahead this Weekend
(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) The Wynn Motorsports team and driver Ray Cook returned to racing action for the first time in over a month on Saturday night, April 28, as they invaded Blue Ridge Motorsports Park in Blue Ridge, Georgia. The Schaeffer's Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series presided over the dirt-slinging competition at the Peach State oval and 20 competitors signed into the pit area for the $4,000 to win battle.
After knocking down the third quickest lap in Group A during qualifying, Ray rolled off from the inside of the third row in the 40-lap headliner. The Brasstown, North Carolina ace dropped back to seventh in the running order early in the feature distance before storming back to the front to claim a strong runner-up effort behind only victor Shawn Chastain. Two big shows will dot the racing calendar for the #53 team this upcoming weekend in the state of Georgia. On Thursday night, May 3, the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series will descend upon Lavonia Speedway in Lavonia, Georgia, while they will do the same on Saturday evening, May 5 at Senoia Raceway in Senoia, Georgia.
