Chris Ferguson Leads WoO Rookie of the Year Standings
First in Flight 100 at Fayetteville Motor Speedway Up Next

Mt. Holly, North Carolina (05/08/18) – On the heels of consistency Chris Ferguson has taken over the lead in the World of Outlaws (WoO) Craftsman Late Model Series Rookie of the Year battle.

The driver of the Diff-Tran Machining #22 K and K Trucking/ XR1 Rocket Chassis/ Clements Racing Engines Super Late Model is now focused on making up more ground in the overall standings as he enters familiar territory with this weekend’s inaugural First in Flight 100 at Fayetteville Motor Speedway.

“It’s definitely been an up-and-down start to the year, but we knew there would be good and bad nights when we made the decision to chase the World of Outlaws Series this season,” Ferguson said. “I feel like we are getting more and more consistent, and I’m really excited to head to Fayetteville Motor Speedway this weekend. I’ve had a lot of success there, and I’ve got a lot of fans and supporters there. Hopefully I can get the biggest win of my career in this weekend’s event.”

Last weekend Chris and the team took part in a three-day swing with the WoO Craftsman Late Model Series.

Chris Ferguson made the trek to Lavonia Speedway (Lavonia, Georgia) on Thursday night to kick off the three-day affair. Losing one spot in his heat race, Ferguson logged a fifth-place finish positioning him 13th on the starting grid for the opening night feature. Breaking into the Top-10, Chris improved three spots, reeling in a 10th-place finish.

On Friday evening in a field of 30 cars at Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, South Carolina), Ferguson followed up the fastest time in qualifying with a runner-up finish in his heat race behind Mike Marlar.

Earning the sixth-starting position for the $10,000-to-win A-Main, Chris jumped two positions to finish fourth behind Mike Marlar, Shane Clanton, and Chris Madden with Donald McIntosh rounding out the Top 5.

Wrapping up the three-day stretch with the World of Outlaws, Chris stopped at Senoia Raceway (Senoia, Georgia) on Saturday night, where he entred the fourth annual Billy Clanton Classic. Ferguson logged a third-place finish in his heat race, which locked his spot into the $10,000-to-win finale.

Rolling off 12th, Chris Ferguson raced around mid-pack throughout the main event before ultimately registering a 12th-place finish.

Chris is currently leading the World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year chase and has jumped up to ninth in the overall point standings. Full results from these events are available at www.WoOLMS.com .

The upcoming weekend – May 11-12 – will find Chris in action at Jim Long’s Fayetteville Motor Speedway (Fayetteville, North Carolina) during the inaugural First in Flight 100 presented by Hoker Trucking. The two-day, WoO Craftsman Late Model Series event will be capped by a $25,001-to-win finale.

Ferguson picked up a WoO win at the facility in 2015, and hopes to notch another big win at the facility this weekend.
