Change of Plans Plants Jake Knowles in Dixie Speedway Victory Lane
Rome, Georgia (05/29/18) – While tumultuous early-season weather may continue to wreak havoc with the racing schedule, Jake Knowles didn’t let it slow him down over the weekend. The pilot of the Knowles Race Parts & Bodies #66 Longhorn Chassis Late Model turned a schedule change into his second win of 2018 on Saturday night.
“After the Durrence Layne Series events got axed by the tropical storm we decided to head to Dixie Speedway on Sunday night, and it paid big dividends,†Knowles said. “I sure hated to see Ahnna (Parkhurst) get taken out by that lapped car because she had a really good car. We were able to capitalize though, and it sure feels good to get our second win of the year.â€
With Mother Nature wiping out the schedule Durrence Layne Dirt Late Model Series doubleheader in Georgia, Jake Knowles visited Dixie Speedway (Woodstock, Georgia) on Saturday evening, where he entered the Weekly Racing Series Event in his Crate Late Model.
With the second-fastest time in qualifying, Jake earned the outside-front-row starting position for the feature. Inheriting the top spot after the leader was taken out by a lapped car, Knowles cruised to his second win of the season in the remaining distance.

The team will be idle this weekend before resuming action on June 8-9 with the annual Rumble on the Gumbo at Greenville Speedway (Greenville, Mississippi). The Durrence Layne Dirt Late Model Series weekend will see a $2,000 winner’s check up for grabs on Friday night a $2,500 top prize on the line on Saturday night.
Jake enters the weekend third in the latest series standings.
