Mooresburg, Tennessee (05/29/18) – For the fifth time in 2018 Dale McDowell parked his Shane McDowell Racing #17m Will Kinzer Foundation/ Sweet-Bloomquist Chassis/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model in Victory Lane.

His latest triumph was worth $5,000 with the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series and came courtesy of a pass for the lead with 15 laps remaining on Saturday night at Dixie Speedway.

“We were a little free on the bottom. We thought with the racetrack being wet down there (in the bottom) we were gonna be a little tighter,” said McDowell. “We were just a little bit free down there. Once I moved to the outside I was able to keep it rolling. We put a different engine combination in for here, a smaller engine for these slicker racetracks, or normally slicker. Tonight (the track) was fast, so that hurt us a little bit early, but it was OK later. Overall it was another great night for our team and all of our great sponsors.”

Thirty-one competitors converged on Dixie Speedway (Woodstock, Georgia) on Saturday night as Ray Cook’s Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series took center stage.

Via preliminary action McDowell earned the third-starting spot for the 50-lap, $5,000-to-win finale. He bided his time throughout the first half of the event before using the high line to snare the lead away from race-long leader, Tyler Millwood with just 15 laps remaining.

From that point McDowell cruised to the win with Millwood, Austin Horton, Donald McIntosh and Michael Page completing the Top-5 finishers.

The win was the fifth overall on the season for McDowell, who holds more Spring Nationals Series wins than any other driver with nine.

The team was scheduled to race with the series on Friday night at Boyd’s Speedway (Ringgold, Georgia) and on Sunday night at Rome Speedway (Rome, Georgia), but both events fell victim to rain.

The upcoming weekend – June 1-2 – will see McDowell and the team entering a pair of $10,000-to-win, World of Outlaws (WoO) Craftsman Late Model Series events in Tennessee. Action opens on Friday night at 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tennessee) before trekking north to Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tennessee) on Saturday night.
