Dustin Strand Goes Three-For-Three in Weekend Action
NLRA Late Model and USMTS Modified Action Ahead
Grand Forks, North Dakota (06/25/18) – Dustin Strand couldn’t have scripted a better weekend. The North Dakota racer found Victory Lane in both his Q&Z Plumbing & Heating #71 McCaughan Builders/ Millenium Modified and his RHR Brew #71 Keewatin Truck Service/ Millenium Late Model.
By the time the final checkered flag had dropped on Strand’s weekend he had won all three events that he had entered.
“Wow, what a weekend for our team,†Strand said. “Sunday was my birthday and I joked with everyone that I don’t think I could’ve ever got a better present than three-straight wins. I knew it was going to be a good weekend, when we won on Thursday night because that was supposed to be just an R&D night. Thanks to my family, my team, and my sponsors for making this all possible.â€
Behind the wheel of the Q&Z Plumbing & Heating #71 Open Wheel Modified, Dustin Strand invaded Red River Co-op Speedway (Winnipeg, Manitoba) on Thursday night, where he was competing in a field of 16 cars. Gaining one spot in his 8-lap heat race, Strand landed a runner-up finish behind Danny Staff, positioning him sixth on the starting grid for the feature.
Wheeling his way to the front, Dustin Strand topped Jerome Guyot, Danny Staff, Rick Delaine, and Ward Imrie at the line in the 20-lapper to capture his fourth win of the season.
On Friday night at River Cities Speedway (Grand Forks, North Dakota), Strand passed one car in his heat to pick up the 8-lap victory. Rolling off sixth for the A-Main, Dustin worked his way into a podium spot by second lap and began tracking down-race leader Troy Schill. After swapping back and forth for the lead, Dustin Strand overtook Schill on lap-10 and held the top spot for the next ten circuits registering his fifth win of the season over Ricky Weiss, Troy Schill, Mike Balcaen, and Brody Troftgruben.
Saturday night found 16 Northern Late Model Racing Association (NLRA) competitors signed in at Greenbush Raceway Park (Greenbush, Minnesota) for the Jack Grahn Memorial. After starting the night with a heat race victory from the sixth-starting position, Strand topped the field in the feature reeling in a $1,500 payday and his sixth win of the season. Brad Seng, Joey Pederson, Ricky Weiss, and Bill Mooney completed the Top-5 finishers in the 25-lap affair.

This weekend – June 29-30 – will see Dustin entering two events in two different divisions. On Friday night he’ll compete with the NLRA Late Models at River Cities Speedway (Grand Forks, North Dakota). On Saturday night he’ll go into battle with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) at Devil’s Lake Speedway (Lakota, North Dakota).
