Ricky Weiss Grabs Win #9 at Red River Co-op Speedway
Headingly, Manitoba, Canada (06/26/18) – Ricky Weiss added another triumph to his 2018-win tally on Thursday night in his Derrick’s Sandblasting #7w Sweet-Bloomquist Race Car/ Vic Hill Race Engine Late Model. His latest triumph came at Red River Co-op Speedway and increased his total count for the season to nine.
“We had another solid weekend,†Weiss commented. “I would’ve liked another win or two this weekend, but we’ll take what we learned and move on down the road to the next ones.â€
Piloting the Derrick’s Sandblasting #7 Super Late Model, Ricky Weiss traveled to Red River Co-op Speedway (Winnipeg, Manitoba) on Thursday evening. He passed six cars in his heat race to streak to an 8-lap victory. Rolling off eighth for the finale Ricky wheeled his way to the front picking up his ninth win of the season over Mike Balcaen, Shane Edginton, Brody Troftgruben, and Rick Fawcett.
The following night at River Cities Speedway (Grand Forks, North Dakota), Ricky secured his A-Main starting spot with a runner-up finish in his heat race behind Mike Balcaen. Battling with Dustin Strand for the top spot in the feature, Weiss came up short at the line to finish second behind Strand with Troy Schill, Mike Balcaen, and Brody Troftgruben rounding out the Top-5.
Wrapping up the three-day weekend, Weiss stopped at Greenbush Race Park (Greenbush, Minnesota) on Saturday to do battle in the Northern Late Model Racing Association (NLRA) sanctioned Jack Grahn Memorial. Gaining four spots in his heat race, Weiss recorded a third place finish, positioning him fifth on the starting grid for the A-Main. With $1,500 on the line, Ricky Weiss gained one spot in the 25-lapper, reeling in a fourth-place finish behind Dustin Strand, Brad Seng, and Joey Pederson with Bill Mooney coming in fifth.
