Tyler Erb Finishes Third in Firecracker 100
Texas Racer Adds Pair of Podiums in Hell Tour Competition
New Waverly, Texas (06/26/18) – Tyler Erb has found considerable speed over the past few weeks in his First Class Septic #91 New Point Lighting and Design/ XR1 Rocket Chassis/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model.
On Saturday night he registered a podium finish in the Firecracker 100 at Lernerville Speedway before adding Hell Tour podium finishes on Sunday and Monday.
“It’s no big secret that the past few months have been pretty rough for us, but we’ve definitely found some speed over the past few weeks,†Erb said. “It was a big confidence booster to finish third in the Firecracker, and then we we’re really good at Tri-State Speedway and Spoon River Speedway. We’ve got a lot of racing scheduled over the next few weeks so hopefully we can kick things up another notch and grab some wins.â€
Tyler Erb invaded Lernerville Speedway (Sarver, Pennsylvania) on Thursday to kick off the opening round of the annual Firecracker 100. With 41 World of Outlaws (WoO) Craftsman Late Model Series racers registers for battle, Erb came up one spot short of a transfer position in his heat with a fifth-place finish. Transferring into the B-Main, Tyler scored a runner-up finish behind Jared Miley, which locked him into the 20th position on the starting grid for the feature. With $6,000 on the line, Tyler Erb gained six spots in the 30-lapper to place 14th.
On Friday night, Tyler backed up the sixth-fastest time in his qualifying group with a third-place finish in his heat race. Coming one spot shy of a Top-5 finish in the final $6,000-to-win preliminary feature, Erb gained six spots, reeling in a sixth-place finish.
Wrapping up the Firecracker 100 weekend on Saturday evening, Erb locked his spot into the $30,000-to-win finale with a runner-up finish in his heat behind Darrell Lanigan. Rolling off eighth for the feature, Tyler Erb gained five spots in the 100-lap affair, notching a third-place finish behind Chris Madden and Mike Marlar with Devin Moran and Dale McDowell completing the Top-5 finishers.
Sunday night found Erb in action at Tri-State Speedway (Haubstadt, Indiana), where he returned to action with the DIRTcar Summer Nationals Hell Tour. Laying down the fastest time overall, Erb earned the second-starting position for the feature after an unfavorable forecast led to officials making the decision to bypass heat races.
Jumping out to an early lead in the finale, Tyler held the top spot for the first 13 circuits until Shannon Babbb slipped past for the lead. Making a charge for the top spot in the closing laps, Tyler Erb came up short at the line to finish second behind Shannon Babb with Billy Moyer, Brian Shirley, and Rusty Schlenk rounding out the Top-5.
On Monday night Tyler made his debut at Spoon River Speedway (Canton, Illinois), where a $5,000 Hell Tour event was on tap. A heat race win positioned Tyler third on the starting grid for the feature. When the checkered flag dropped on the 40-lap affair he would flash across the finish line in the third position behind Shannon Babb and Brian Shirley with Frank Heckenast Jr. and Chase Junghans completing the Top-5 finishers.

After seeing tonight’s Hell Tour event at Charleston Speedway (Charleston, Illinois) canceled, the team will turn their focus to a tripleheader weekend. On Thursday night Tyler will compete at La Salle Speedway (La Salle, Illinois) in a $5,000-to-win Hell tour event. Friday and Saturday will see Tyler competing a pair of $10,000-to-win, co-sanctioned events between the Hell Tour and WoO Craftsman Late Model Series at Terre Haute Action Track (Terre Haute, Indiana) and Federated Raceway at I-55 (Pevely, Missouri).
