Dustin Strand Stays Hot with NLRA River Cities Romp
Notches Podium Finish with USMTS
Grand Forks, North Dakota (07/03/18) – Dustin Strand continued his recent hot streak with a fast weekend in both his Walhalla Builders #71 McCaughan Builders/ Millenium Modified and his Bemidji Welders Supply #71 Keewatin Truck Service/ Millenium Late Model.
He pushed his 2018-win tally to seven with an NLRA win on Friday night, and he added a podium finish with the USMTS on Saturday night.
“I can’t say enough about our team. Everybody busted their tails and we had another great weekend in both cars,†Strand commented. “Even on Thursday night at Red River Co-op Speedway, when we got behind the eight ball early, nobody gave up and we turned it into a good night. The NLRA win at River Cities Speedway was great, but I was probably most proud of our run on Saturday night with the USMTS. We don’t get to run many open motor shows with the Modified, and those guys are the best of the best. To lead some laps and get a podium finish is something really cool or us.â€
On Thursday night Dustin Strand was one of 15 Open Wheel Modified competitors on hand at Red River Co-op Speedway (Winnipeg, Manitoba) to do battle in the regular night of racing. After failing to finish his heat race, Strand charged through the field 12 spots in the feature to reel in a runner-up finish behind Ward Imrie with Scott Greer, Ryan Kereluk, and Tony Caissie completing the Top-5 finishers.
The following night found Strand competing in the Northern Late Model Racing Association (NLRA) sanctioned program at River Cities Speedway (Grand Forks, North Dakota).
Dustin locked his spot into the A-Main with a runner-up finish in his heat race behind Ryan Corbett. Earning the fifth-starting position for the finale, Strand outdueled third-starting Shane Edginton to pick up his seventh win of the season and a $1,200 payday.
Edginton, Ryan Corbett, Brad Seng, and Joey Pederson rounded out the Top-5 finishers in the 20-lap affair.
Sunday night found Strand in action at Devil’s Lake Speedway (Lakota, North Dakota), where he was making a rare start with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS).
Rolling off from the pole of his heat race, Dustin registered a second-place finish behind Jake O’Neil, which positioned him second on the starting grid for the feature. Jumping to the lead at the drop of the green flag, Strand held the top spot for the first three laps until Johnny Scott took control for the remaining 37 circuits. Dustin went on to score a third-place finish behind Scott and Stormy Scott with Ryan Gustin and Zack VanderBeek trailing them to the line.
