Mike Benedum Makes Triumphant Return to the Driver’s Seat
Pockets $7,000 ULMS Victory at Tyler County Speedway

Salem, West Virginia (07/03/18) – After more than a month since his last event, Mike Benedum made a triumphant return to the driver’s seat on Friday night at Tyler County Speedway. By the time the night was over, he had pocketed a $7,000 winner’s check at the West Virginia bullring.

Benedum’s first win of 2018 came aboard the Eric Hudkins Motorsports #25 BSI Well Service Sweet Bloomquist Race Car/ Roush Yates Racing Engine Super Late Model.

“Wow, what a night for us,” Benedum exclaimed. “To come back after a few weeks out of the seat and win was just an amazing feeling. It got kind of tense late in the event with all of the lapped cars. I accidently got into one of them, and I definitely didn’t mean to do that. Late in the race the right rear tire started to go away, so I had to be easy with it. Saturday night at Portsmouth, bad luck bit us but I still am thrilled with our weekend results. I’m looking forward to getting back to action this week.”

Friday night found Mike Benedum in action at Tyler County Speedway (Middlebourne, West Virginia) to kick off the fourth annual Mega 100 weekend.

With 28 Zimmer’s United Late Model Series entries on hand, Benedum locked his spot into main event with a heat race victory. Receiving the pole position after the redraw, Mike jumped out to a lead early and held the top spot comfortably until lap-traffic started to become a factor late. Holding off Jared Miley in the closing laps, Benedum led flag-to-flag to capture his first win of the season and a $7,000 payday. Miley, Corey Conley, Tyler Carpenter, and Max Blair completed the Top-5 finishers in the 50-lap affair.

The following night Mike traveled to Portsmouth Raceway Park (Portsmouth, Ohio) for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned Independence 50. In a field of 38 cars, Benedum suffered a broken lift-bar in his heat race, which ultimately brought an early end to his night.

Mike is slated to return to action on Tuesday night with the $12,000-to-win, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event at Muskingum County Speedway (Zanesville, Ohio) before invading Beckley Motorsports Park (Beckley, West Virginia) on Wednesday night for the $4,000-to-wn, unsanctioned event.
